Berco Undercarriage Known for Wear Resistance and Durability

Berco is a premier manufacturer and supplier of undercarriage parts and systems that are known for quality, reliability, wear resistance, and durability. IronDirect sells a full range of Berco undercarriage components for maintenance and overhaul of track systems for bulldozers, excavators, track loaders, and more.

Founded in Italy in 1920, Berco has a well-earned reputation for manufacturing the world’s best components and full track systems for machines from small loaders to excavators to major mining systems. IronDirect carries Berco components for hundreds of undercarriage configurations.berco

“Experience tells us that up to half the lifetime cost of tracked machines comes from maintaining and repairing undercarriage,” said IronDirect President Tim Frank. “To extend machine life and control costs, it’s critical that undercarriage components are made to withstand extreme conditions. Berco parts deliver great wear resistance and long life. That keeps money in contractors’ pockets.”

Each year Berco processes 160,000 tons of steel to produce 200,000 track chains, one million rollers, 120,000 idlers, and five million track shoes. Berco invests heavily in research and development to produce heat-treated, hardened, and tempered parts that deliver superior performance. It operates a nearly six million square foot manufacturing base in Copparo, Italy and a 700,000 square foot facility in Castelfranco Veneto, Italy.

Berco uses heat treatment to harden and temper its undercarriage components.

Berco’s product quality starts with selecting the best steel, then carefully monitoring surface and core hardness during manufacturing. Berco uses hot forging to produce chain links, rollers, and drive wheels. A variety of heat treatment methods are employed for hardening and tempering components like sprockets, rollers, and idlers. The manufacturing process is fully automated and computer controlled, using wrist robots, gantry robots, self-learning hydraulic handlers, and stacker cranes to ensure efficiency and quality.

The Berco medium range of products is for dozers, crawler loaders, and excavators from 7 to 50 tons. More than 11,000 configurations of heavy-duty chains are available, including dry, greased, sealed, or lubricated. Shoes are available with single, double, or triple grousers. More than 500 configurations of cast, forged, or fabricated idlers are available. Berco offers more than 600 configurations of sprockets and segments.

Berco mini undercarriage components and systems are available for mini excavators, track loaders, horizontal drilling machines, smaller dozers, and paving machines. A complete line of undercarriage components for mini excavators covers machine sizes from 1.5 to 6 tons. Products include traditional steel chains with welded or bolt-on shoes, clamp-on rubber pads, and rubberized shoes.

“Customers can turn to IronDirect for Berco components, whether they operate small track loaders, a fleet of dozers, or crawler excavators,” Frank said. “Any brand of machine, any job site conditions, any level of wear – we’ve got the Berco solution.”
